Snapped this photo in Boston’s Public Garden during my recent walk through the City to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Once there, I luxuriated in savoring each oil painting, watercolor, etching and piece of ephemera in the Anders Zorn: A European Artist Seduces America exhibit. This was my very first visit to the Gardner’s New Wing. Spectacular! Then I walked through a corridor which connected the New Wing to Mrs. Gardner’s Palace. Here my eyes first soaked up the profusion of colors and textures in the Courtyard. My gaze then slowly rose five stories to the peak of the sun roof. Walking through the cool, dimly lit interior rooms, I glanced, from time to time, out into the soft natural light of the Courtyard. The Public Garden. Newbury Street. The Fenway. Mrs. Gardner’s Palace. The work of Anders Zorn, which I fell in love with here, in this very place, more than 30 years ago. Hello, old friends. My heart was and is full. Inspiration abounds.
