Press Play: Collage in Print

Today my artwork is on public view to art lovers in the American Midwest for the first time by way of Press Play: Collage in Print at Spiva Center for the Arts in Joplin, Missouri. I am very excited two pieces from my Seacoast Women — Zerrissenheit (XI) and Zerrissenheit (XII) — are on exhibit at Spiva Center for the Arts, Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., through October 11, 2026.

I learned this week three, not two, of my Seacoast Women were accepted into Press Play: Collage in Print at Spiva Center for the Arts. Yes, Zerrissenheit (XIII) (below) was one of the five Seacoast Women monotype collages I entered into this juried exhibit. Yet when I checked the titles of accepted pieces on CaFÉ, a call for entries submission and online jurying website, I somehow saw two, not three, Seacoast Women had been accepted.

My mistake surfaced this week in advance of the exhibit opening because I noticed Zerrissenheit (XIII) in the Press Play Gallery on the Spiva Center for the Arts website. I emailed the Center and asked them to include one of the accepted images in the Gallery. Kearstin Mattox at Spiva responded, “It looks like all three works were invited, per CaFÉ.”

I double checked my CaFÉ account. Yes, Zerrrissenheit (XIII) had also been accepted into the Press Play exhibit. Somehow I’d missed this. Very embarrassing.

I emailed Kearstin and apologized for my mistake. She replied, “No need to apologize at all! We are excited to showcase your work in our galleries.”

Very gracious.
