Spring has sprung

“You might have to make a cozy home inside your heart one day, and when you do, you’ll be glad you didn’t skimp on butter and cheese.”
– Duchess Goldblatt

My silence here these past five months has been in no way a reflection of stalled creativity. On the contrary. I’ve been making things: drawings, paper dolls, cards and more. I’ve been reading a lot: The Things We Never Say: A Novel (2026) by Elizabeth Strout, Theo of Golden (2023) by Allen Levi and Becoming Duchess Goldblatt: A Memoir (2020) by Anonymous, among others. Between January and April, I knit lots of accessories. Now I am close to the finish line of knitting a sweater plus swatching to knit a blanket.

“Slide a piece of waxed paper between the left side of your brain and the right side to keep them from squishing together and confusing you.”
– Duchess Goldblatt

Now that spring has sprung here in northern New England, I’m out and about to get together with friends, listen to live music and author talks, take walks, visit the Saturday Portsmouth Farmers’ Market and more.

I’m doing my best to feel grounded and hopeful amidst the chaos, greed, lies, violence and noise of the times in which we find ourselves living. We are in the throes of a massive transformation. Always darkest before the dawn. Stay tuned.
